South Africa Mobile Service Providers
Cell C is South Africa’s third cellular provider, after Vodacom and MTN, and the first cellular provider operating a dual band GSM 900/1800 Mhz network, with 3.4 million subscribers as of 30 June 2007. Cell C has to date achieved 10% market share since its launch on 17 November 2001.

Vodacom is a Pan-African cellular communications company providing a world class GSM service to more than 23 million customers in South Africa, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Lesotho and Mozambique. Vodacom South Africa launched its 3G network in December 2004 and its 3G HSDPA network in March 2006. Vodacom Tanzania announced the launch of its 3G network in February 2006.
