TIGO was launched in Democratic Republic of Congo in 2007, to replace the old national brand OASIS with a new international brand. It competes with international operators like MTN, Celtel, Supercell, Vodacom and Congo Chine Telecom, using technologies GSM/GPRS/EDGE over 1800 MHz.
